I am Legend
This Will Smith starrer depicts life in New York after an army of zombie-vampire hybrid creatures attack the world. Dr Robert Neville (Smith) is the only man alive in the city and only a few humans are left in the entire world. Directed by Francis Lawrence, this movie is based on a novel by Richard Matheson published in 1954. Dr. Neville is dealing with isolation and his German Shepherd Samantha is his only company while he is trying to find a cure to the virus that turns people into mindless cannibals.
Life of Pi
Life of Pi is based on Yann Martel’s novel published in 2001. Directed by Ang Lee, this movie shows the journey of an Indian boy who gets stranded on a small sailing boat with Richard Parker, a 450-pound wild Bengal Tiger. The animal is hostile towards the boy in the beginning but eventually they both learn to co-exist together on their journey through the Pacific.
This Danny Boyle directorial depicts the story of real-life hiker named Aron Ralston (played by James Franco) and is based in the backdrop of Utah. Aron slips while moving via a slot canyon, and one of his hands gets crushed against a wall by a boulder. Ultimately he gets pinned and from here begins his painful and inspiring story of how he manages to escape after amputating his arm with a sharp blade.
Into the Wild
Starring Emile Hirsch in the lead role of Chris McCandless, Into the Wild is also based on true events, and cinematic adaptation of a non-fiction novel of the same name.
